What am I supposed to know about E-light treatment for photorejuvenation, benign vascular and pigmented lesion removal, or permanent hair reduction?

E-light System is intended for photorejuvenation, benign vascular and pigmented lesions, and/or permanent hair reduction. Clinical results may vary in different skin types.  There are several alternatives to treatment including but not limited to other laser treatments, chemical peels, radiofrequency treatments, or no treatment at all.
Possible risks of the procedure include pain, bruising, swelling, redness, itching, skin inflammation or irritation (dermatitis), scarring, blistering, hypopigmentation, hyperpigmentation, mottling of skin vascularity and pigmentation, and other unforeseen complications.

A single procedure will most likely fail to remove all unwanted pigment/ vascular or pigmented lesions/ hair in the area treated.  Multiple treatments are required.

Individual response will vary according to skin types, hair color, follow up care, and the body area being treated.  Eye injury is possible but unlikely, providing complete eye protection is properly used throughout laser treatment sessions.

Treatment may be painful, but this is typically manageable without any pain medication.  Transient color changes, such as hyperpigmentation (brown/red discoloration) or hypopigmentation (skin lightening), may occur in treated skin.  This may take several months to resolve.  Unprotected sun exposure in the weeks following treatments is contraindicated as it may cause or worsen this condition.  Blistering of the skin may occur.  Scarring is uncommon but may occur.

Based on the experience of many other physicians we have found that those people who tend to sunburn rather than tan usually obtain good results on the first and subsequent visits.  On the other hand, those who tan more easily tend to have more variation in their results.

Some patients in this category will experience partial results and some will experience no improvement at all.

CONTRAINDICATIONS to E-light treatment:

history of melanoma, raised moles, suspicious lesions, keloid scar formation, active infections, open lesions, hives, herpetic lesions, cold sores, tattoos or permanent make-up in area of treatment, recent use of Accutane, tetracycline, or St. John’s wort in the last year, autoimmune diseases such as Lupus, Scleroderma, Vitiligo.  I certify that I am not pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or nursing.

Before the first treatment a Fitzpatrick test is done. Skintipes IV: and V. are not to be treated.

What am I supposed to know about cavitation ultrasound therapy?

Ultrasonic Cavitation is a non-surgical fat removal procedure. Because there is no surgery and no anesthesia, there is no hospital stay, no time off from work and no recovery time.

Most clients see an immediate change in their appearance after the first session, with optimum results after 2 to 5 sessions. While this is a non-surgical way to sculpt and contour your body, this is not a replacement to a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Age, metabolism, changes in hormones, medications, tissue structure and treatment area will have an impact on the results. To maintain the results it is important to follow a healthy diet and exercise regularly.

Most clients found the treatment to be very comfortable and trouble-free. Some clients experience warmth during the treatment and a small amount of noise discomfort, but there is no pain.

It is important to follow a low calorie and healthy diet and to drink 8 glasses of water a day before and after the treatment. Since the liver metabolizes a part of the adipocytes and expels it in the urine, it is necessary to drink plenty of water before and after the treatment.

3. The day after your procedure you may start washing the treated area twice a day with a nonsoap, gentle cleanser only (such as Cetaphil). A gentle moisturizer may be used only after you’ve stopped peeling completely! Please note that continued application of moisturizer will speed the healing process.

5. If your skin is broken or a blister appears, it may be necessary to use an antibiotic ointment (notify your physician).

6. Oral analgesics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, or other medications may be used at the discretion of your physician for discomfort.
